Job websites
Is there a good website for design job openings that you all use? I'm mainly looking in California.
PUSH PSDS - newest addition!
Yet another silly idea turned impulsive decision.

Pusblished in Country Living Magazine - bitter sweet (need some advice)
In class the other day I was told by a fellow student that she saw a photo I took of Rudi in a magazine at the doctors office. Optimistic yet skeptical I asked to see the magazine. How many photos of puppy's in the grass are there on the internet? A whole lot. So what are the chances of my photo being published? This was my mindset.
As I was walking out of the class she came back with magazine in hand. We flip to page 72 and there he is (photo below)! My photo got published! This is exciting and all, but here are a few things that make this deal not as sweet as it could be.
1. I searched for my name to be credited and it wasn't there.

Hand painted Typography
I've noticed around Blacksburg, VA more and more restaurants and little shops go back to hand painted typography in their windows and signs. Here's my question: In all of your opinions, will hand painted work like this see a resurgence in the near future?
Personally, I wouldn't mind using my hands in the crafting of this art.

Web Design Proposal through email?
Has anyone proposed to businesses through email a website redesign? I'm trying to pick up some more freelance business and am wondering what information should be included in an email, since it is a somewhat informal way to offer your services.
Thanks all.
Need your opinion: Web site critique
I just did a website for a Landscape Architect and would like a critique on it if you all don't mind.
The link to it in my portfolio is http://www.glennsorrentino.com/graphicdesign/view/Sure_Building_Web_Desi...
If you click the image a lightbox will come up and you can scroll through the secondary and tertiary pages.
Thanks all!
Laser engraving - gotta love it
I just found out about our laser cutter at Virginia Tech so I decided to turn my tramp stamp into a promotional campaign:

Opinion: Typography
Many designers love 1001freefonts.com or similar websites to get their hardly unique typefaces that will be used by much more than 1001 different designers. I do not use these typefaces, not because you can't at times find something good, but because I feel like using these fonts is an easy way out. If you want to make something look "evil" it is very easy to get a grungy, distorted typeface and throw it on a dark background and presto!
The New Art
This is inspired by the artist Joseph Kosuth; specifically his pieces labeled "art as idea." (http://www.diacenter.org/KOS/images/kosuth.jpg) He would present the definition of "Art" or "Nothing" or various other words and this would be his art piece. Effectively, he questioned the conventional notion of art.
I like this piece because according to the guests in my house or just on my mood, the canvases can be switched to say "Is this art(?)" "Art is this" or the other combinations.

Hurt like HELvetica
Semi-jestfully I would talk with my friends about how stupid it would be to get an I <3 Helvetica tattoo... an even stupider idea would be to get it as a tramp stamp. Well, I got good reviews from my posse and impulsively I got it last night...
