Dose anyone know if Egmont Inline by Sjoerd Hendrik De Roos, distributed by Typefoundry Amsterdam was ever digitized? I believe that Linotype should have the rights to it but I can't find it on there website.
I can't even find a highres sample online.
Any high quality fonts that might be an adequate substitute?
Thanks in advance.
Just trying to keep this post alive as no one has commented on it yet. -Thanks
Should I have posted this in another section? If so were? -Thanks
I'll alert somebody who might know.

Thanks hrant
Additionally, if any one has a high quality type specimen of Egmont Inline font which was distributed by Typefoundry Amsterdam, I would be greatly indebted. In particular the letters V, R and T.
Thank you once more for the assistance.
Dennis Ortiz-Lopez has made a revival but his intention was not to make an eaxact copy: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/ortizlopez/ol-egmont/
BTW if you don't find exactly what you need, and if you're an exacting person :-) you might considering commissioning somebody to make the font (or just those three letters) for you. Somebody who possesses or could acquire a high-quality specimen of the original.

This should do as a template ...

Nice!

Wow. Very excellent scans. Hrant, I promise that I will keep my mouse to myself. :)
:-)
Mouse-for-hire works too! Alfonso, you could of course commission James, Joep, myself* or somebody else to make high-quality outlines of those three letters (or even the whole font).

polkawithfontana I can not overstate my appreciation for your gesture of kindness.
THANK YOU!
hrant, Thank you as well for all your assistance throughout this post.
I will be using the scans provided as the point of departure to some letter designs which will them selves only be a small portion of a much larger design.
I very much wish I could hire you hrant to provide me with at lest, some, much needed assistance. I am afraid, however, that this is yet another cases of an already overworked creative being asked to deliver yet more work that is done fast, is grate and for no compensation.
Sure - no hard feelings of course. In fact feel free to show your outlines for some friendly crits.

Digitized as "Euboea" by Brendel Informatik, but quality is very poor
Unfortunately I do not know wether Egmont ‘Inline’ of Lettergieterij Amsterdam has ever been digitized at all.
According to Jan Middendorp in his book ‘Dutch Type’ from 2005 the only digital version is the light and medium version from Dennis Ortiz-Lopez. I compared it with the one in my specimen from LA and I think he should never called it Egmont. I think there is too much difference and it hasn't got the finesse the original has. The ‘W’ and ‘w’ are terrible! The Italic is totally different but he said already that this was not made to look like the one from De Roos.
Then yes, naming it Egmont was a mistake.

Late, I know, but was just made aware of this post. I am aware of two similar versions, one is the mentioned Euboea - which is a copy of Rakowski's Elizabeth-Ann and is also known as Martina and Queen Elizabeth. The other one is the OPTI De Roos Inline Initials, also copied as if there were no tomorrow (Debut, Theodor Initials, Dagenham DB). As usual, for both versions no guarantee that the lists are complete.

I looked at the excellent scans by Joep Pohlen and compared them to the metal type in use specimen published in Jaspert's _Type Encylopedia_ [1970] and note differences.

Any idea what happened?
Different point sizes?
Don
For a metal type this was a difficult design to produce and use. The little wedge type pieces are obviously designed to float clear of the main strokes. In use the type would soon be stressed and the wedges would be pushed into the main stroke, or pushed outwards. Where digital versions are based on different impressions, this should account for the variation in appearance. As for the R, I don't know if it's a redesign or a font size difference.
A proper digital version would be a real treat!
Don
You mean something like this Don? Or was the Elizabeth-Ann aka Euboea good enough?

With thanks to Joep Pohlen for the fabulous scans. This beta version based on the LA 1938 and the Plantin 1951 specimen sheets.
Now that's an R!
With specimen sheet scans you are ahead of the game.
Should look good printed. A tone of rational elegance.
Definitely not a screen font. The small image hides the incising details.
Don
Just a quick question, koeiekat. Are you going to produce this as a font?
Don
It is already a font, be it in an early beta phase and in need of a lot of work on small details. And, yes, those specimen sheets did help. When finished, as you say, good for print only but should go well as initials with the Egmont Mager I think.
Beta demo now on dafont: http://www.dafont.com/open-egmont-kapitalen.font
Just downloaded it. Looks good! I should try printing something with it.

I digitised Egmont Inline back in 1988 or so from an Amsterdam Typefoundry specimen. Just found this discussion.

No accents, even the ampersand is missing. Sorry.
