Typography: from brain to media
Beatrice Warde Memorial Lecture
===============================

Thursday 15 May 2008, 6.30pm in the Bridewell Hall
Entry to the lecture is free and all are welcome

. . . . .

Designers think for a living, but nobody is interested in our thoughts.
All they want is the physical manifestations of our thought process.
Sketches, dummies, layouts, mark-ups, pilots, presentations, print-outs,
soft proofs, touch-and-feel, wireframes – whatever it takes to show what
the ‘real’ piece may look like.

As a typographer in the 60s and 70s, we had to prepare our ideas for
other people: typesetters, printers, programmers, colleagues, client.
Exact instructions, pasted-up elements or ‘original art’ were our final
product.

P22 Sneaky font introduction

Submitted by paul d hunt : 1.May.2008 7.26am

P22 Sneaky is the newest font by award winning type designer Michael Clark. Sneaky is a connecting-script and sibling of his popular “Pooper Black” type, which shares a similar flow and casual elegance. It features shared details and relative size so that with careful design, the two can be mixed and matched. Sneaky Pro features over 500 glyphs with alternates and a Central European character set.

The font is available in regular TT/PS/OT formats for only
$19.95 or in Pro OpenType format for $29.95 (that’s less than 6 cents per glyph!).

New release: Flama mega family / 2008.04.22

Submitted by paul d hunt : 28.Apr.2008 3.00am

Hi!
Green greetings from springlike New York City.

/ / / / /

New release: Flama mega family by Mario Feliciano

One of the maiden releases when Village launched in 2005, and still one of our most popular offerings, the Flama family has been expanded and improved. Mario Feliciano, the great Portuguese designer, has added three additional widths and some extra weights to this eminently useful sans.

The “standard” Flama family now comprises 10 weights from Thin through Black in both roman and italic with all accents needed for setting western and eastern European languages. Also new for 2008 are Semicondensed, Condensed and Ultracondensed widths of Flama.

The type family will soon be seen everywhere (in Europe, at least) for a major car company.
