FontExplorer X Pro 3.0

Monotype Imaging Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: TYPE), a leading global provider of text imaging solutions, and its subsidiary, Linotype GmbH, have introduced version 3.0 of FontExplorer® X Pro for Macintosh® platforms. The latest version is now available from www.fontexplorerx.com.

Realist from MartinPlusFonts.com is a straightforward typeface that speaks in a simple voice without being stern. It’s ideal for corprate design as well as editorial work, for headlines that speak of simplicity or for product design with an exclusive touch. It works for all expressions where the message plays the leading role.

Three Widths: Typical for a grotesque is the availability of an additional Wide version, while the humanist sans serifs tend to be more narrow. So it made much sense to draw three widths: Realist, RealistNarrow, as well as a RealistWide.

Eight Weights: The availability of a good amount of weights makes the designer’s work so much easier. This is why Realist comes in eight weights: Thin, Light, SemiLight, Regular, Medium, Bold, ExtraBold and Black.

Fonts.com Web Fonts now provides advanced features for controlling how Web fonts are loaded into Web pages.

Customers can now use the WebFont Loader, an Open Source JavaScript™ library that provides a variety of options for Web developers to control the Web font loading experience. The WebFont Loader is served through the Google AJAX Libraries API.

Designed by Daniel Hernández

A fresh, curly & delicious sans serif.Merced is a sans serif font that can be given different uses for its wide variety of alternate types. Its main virtue is the endless number of possibilities that the font gives to write a word, text or paragraph.

Regia Sans Pro designed by Luciano Vergara.

Weingut Script Flourish is a decorative display font with high contrasts, perfectly drawn to the tiniest details. The font is trimmed to fairly large font sizes and is highly suitable for chapter titles or book jackets as well as Headlines, Invitations and wine labels, although also impressing with an astounding legibility in small typesettings. Inspired by the hand drawn Blätterschrift from the 19th century Mettenleiter’s Schriftenmagazin, its basic structure is related to the English Script. The creative process started in summer 2009 and after 600 hours of work, over a 2 year period, Weingut now unfolds to reveal all its charms.
Created by Georg Herold-Wildfellner.

Design with bicoloured capitals:

P22 Enters The Era of Wood Type

P22 Type Foundry in association with Virgin Wood Type announces the release of a completely new wooden version of the Czech Modernist font Preissig Scrape. The bold expressionistic Preissig design is offered as a wood type font to letterpress printers and collectors and is now available directly from Virgin Wood Type.

P22 Preissig Scrape was digitized in 1997 by P22 type Foundry from samples of an alphabet designed and hand cut by Vojtech Preissig in 1914 for a book project that was never completed. The book called "The House" featured lino cut illustrations and the lettering reflected the angular and organic lines of the lino cuts.

Monotype Imaging Adds the Bradley Type Handwriting Fonts into the ITC Typeface Collection

Newest Releases Extend the Versatility of Designer Richard Bradley's ITC Bradley Hand Fonts

Monotype Imaging Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: TYPE), a leading global provider of text imaging solutions, has released the six-font Bradley Type™ family of handwriting fonts into the company's ITC® typeface collection. The newest additions can be licensed and downloaded from Monotype Imaging's Fonts.com, ITCFonts.com and Linotype.com stores. Bradley Type is also available for website design from Fonts.com Web Fonts.

Designed by calligrapher, lettering artist and type designer Richard Bradley, the latest design is intended to be a versatile counterpart to his ITC Bradley Hand™ fonts, released in 1995. "Typefaces are rarely designed in response to public demand, but that's exactly what led Richard back to the drawing board to create Bradley Type," said Allan Haley, director of words and letters at Monotype Imaging. Bradley said, "After listening to so many graphic designers ask for a version without ITC Bradley Hand's rough edges, I knew I had a mandate."

The documentary film, Making Faces: Metal Type in the 21st Century, is now ready for DVD release and select theatrical screenings.

Making Faces follows the work process of the late Canadian graphic artist Jim Rimmer through the steps in creating a metal font. The film is shot and directed by P22 founder Richard Kegler in HD Video. It started as an idea to document the making of the first ever font that would be simultaneously released in metal and digital formats. The font "RTF Stern" was released in 2008 through P22 type foundry with Jim Rimmer casting metal fonts to order for much of 2008.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Royal Wedding invitation, from a design perspective, is the choice of typeface. The invitation has been set in the Perpetua® Italic typeface – and there are undoubtedly marked reasons behind this selection. Firstly, there is nothing more quintessentially British than a Royal Wedding – and this demands an equally quintessential British typeface. Perpetua Italic fits this bill expertly. It is a timeless design and the first collaboration of two of Britain’s pillars of the typographic arts, Stanley Morison and Eric Gill.
