Like I alluded to in another thread, I think you need to get into grayscale bitmap fonts to really achieve the type of thing that seems to turn you on. The level of detail you're trying to put in such limited space might be requiring too much wishful thinking at the expense of real legibility.
I'm having a "fatal" problem with it too (although it has to do with the Windows OS directly). But the transparency stuff you're supposed to be able to do with something they're calling Photofonts.
Anyway, what I've done is send my files to them, with a detailed explanation of what's not working. I'm hopeful, because Pyrus's responsiveness in terms of features/bugs is legendary.
I'm looking at that thing called photofonts...WTH is it? looking on the web there is a weird program that embeds images in type called photofonts, but i've never heard of it before. a WIN only thing? *If* you could do photoshop with it, that would be half the battle, but then you couldn't use it with Flash (Flash doesn't *do* bitmap fonts)
Bardam, i receive your mail, and i`m very interested. Please let me know if you got other email and then show the details, `cause i got a lot of things to te(show)ll you.

hey hrant,
i tried out bitfonter, and, well, they problem with grayscale bitmap fonts are a plenty
1) they don't work with photoshop, at least on a mac
2) they are gray, not semi-transparent, so you can only use white backgrounds
they do work on the mac though...

Hrant & Matthew
I`m very interested in Greyscale bitmap fonts but, for me the premise on type design is:
First show, then tell !

I don't know too much about Photofonts yet.
But when it comes to fonts I'm a black&white kinda guy anyway.
> Flash doesn't *do* bitmap fonts
Which totally sucks.
Note that Shockwave does.

I wonder if Type 3 fonts are supported on Mac and Win. I wouldn't care if they printed or not.

Miguel, did you get my message via email? I just switched servers and I might not have gotten your reply, if so.

I think Type3 has long been a formata non grata, so to speak.
