Arabic font recommendations similar to Trajan Pro?
0

Working on a design task where I need to match the english text which is in Trajan Pro to the arabic text.
Does anyone have any suggestions for an Arabic font that matches the old style serif of Trajan?

Your help is much appreciated, thanks!

Thanks AzizMostafa.
The 'muslimah' font doesn't compliment Trajan as much as I'd like - any other recommendations?

In fact I have to say that to me Muslimah is exactly a case of thinking that matching a typestyle across scripts is a matter of formal shapes. It's not. Instead I feel what's involved is the matching of a "mood": what Arabic font evokes to Arabs what Trajan evokes to Westerners? Maybe a thulooth. But that's hard to pull off with a font... So instead a particularly traditional Nasta'leeq perhaps.

BTW Aziz, where do the outlines of the Latin component of Muslimah come from?

@ Trajan @ Muslimah are complementary in ugliness!

@ If the text is full with marks, I recommend (Naskh Aziz) that is now topping http://maryamsoft.com/
But if the text has no or little marks, I recommend the pressed version (Naskh Mostafa)

I meant: is it derived from Adobe Trajan's outlines, or some other source?

If it's a case of redistributing outlines taken from a commercial font, that's not OK.

Many years ago I made this
http://themicrofoundry.com/ss_trajic.html
which re-uses Adobe Trajan's outlines (but does not include any unaltered glyphs). Over the years dozens of people have contacted me asking to buy it. I say no.

Hi Ashafi,

I'll recommended the following typeface to match Tarjan,

Manal, Alia, Babel and Muna.
Also: Fedra Serif will work.
Best Wishes,

Medhat
