Greetings all! I wanted to drop this message to all of my East and West coast Typophile buddies and as a general warning to all residents of the state of California... I may be coming to a town near you! San Francisco residents need particularly be scared as I am making my new nest in the fine city of San Fran. You all may never be the same. I’ll see you in September, MWAH-HA-HA-HA!

I’ve had a great run here in New York, but as an Ohio boy I miss things like “trees” and “nature”. :) Nope, no job prospects yet. Based on my interests and my personality, I just think San Fran might suit me more than NY.

Wow. Let us know when you’re in the ’hood, Terry. Maybe you can help redesign Muni now. =)

Ouch! That sounds pretty nasty... like something you don’t want to be caught doing in public.

I ate my first plate of sushi in Japantown, San Fran and washed the buggers down with Anchor Steam.

Yes, I’m old, but please pass the yellowtail & wasabe!

if too many of us migrate to SF, do you think we’ll cause another earthquake?

buona fortuna!

Good move! But the southern half is more... real.
And you’re into signage, right? Freewaylandia over here.

I certainly hope so! :)

Welcome, Terry! I bet you’ll love it here... the weather is so great, and the Bay Area type geeks will welcome you with open arms. Don’t worry about missing the bash on the 20th, if you aren’t here yet - there’ll be plenty of other opps for getting together with the gang.

Now we definitely need to grab lunch sometime soon, Terry.

“Now we definitely need to grab lunch sometime soon, Terry.”
Definitely. I’ve been to Central Park many times and I live within walking distance from Prospect Park in Brooklyn. The difference is in comparison to where I’m from, there seem to be only “designated places where nature is allowed” in New York. Where I’m from, its just always there. You’re lucky to find a patch of grass in a 10 block radius here in New York.

Terry I was teasing, enjoy California. I hope they have a good mass transit system or your going to have to pony up some serious change for a car, insurance, maintenance and of course Texas Tea.

Terry, I’m glad you’re coming out here. Definitely more “nature” within reach. You can help me mount a campaign to get BART’s wayfinding fixed. Beastly thing it is.....

Dan, very true, especially down here: If you become carless in LA, after three days you start getting treated like scum by your own family! :-/

Good choice, Terry! I’d encourage your efforts to improve BART, but BART and MUNI are the gateways to madness: every station is a jumble of conflicting type, signage, branding, and architecture. Looking around trying to figure out how to fix everything will explode your brain. I prefer to watch the mice scamper around underneath the tracks. It’s soothing.

After New York, San Francisco can seem a little parochial, but we have awesome sushi, two of the most amazing record stores in the United States, if not the world, and some of the most freakishly unvarying weather I’ve ever seen (opinions vary on the last). Also, we have entertaining politics. And I guess we have the nature too, although the good stuff is further away than you might think.

And of course, we have William Stout. Leave your wallet at home the first time you visit. I didn’t, and I was sorry (although not very).
