Good Things
Some good things are going on here with the Typophile codebase, not the least of which is inline image uploads. Only a few more things/bugs to check off our list before we can take the beta stripe off. To use the new image upload features you will need the Flash 8 player. Once you have it installed you will see an “Insert image” link on the post form. It’s got a progress bar, no pop-ups, and no page reloads! Trust me, that’s cool. On the downside, I’m sure we’ll have to hear some whining about flash. Oh well. For Uppercase members, you might try editing your blog with ecto or any number of other blogging clients. More on this later.

I have the Flash 8 player, but I don’t see any “Insert image” link. (I’m using the latest version of Safari, if that’s relevant.)
21.Oct.2005 10.46pm
Same thing with Firefox.
21.Oct.2005 10.48pm
I do notice that the “Online users:” is formatted differently in Firefox than in Safari. In Firefox, it is formatted paragraph-style with gray vertical bars between names. In Safari, it’s one name per line, like a list.

Oops. Forgot to change the upload permissions. Should be available now.

IT WORKS!
Now I shall haunt this blog until the lost posts of my former life have risen from the dust!

Dang, Stewf, get rid of that scary critter. He’s giving me the heebiejeebies!
22.Oct.2005 7.36am
Don’t worry Ghost, I’ve been putting some serious time into your resurrection as well. You wouldn’t believe how complicated it is. I’m just saying this so you’ll think it’s cool when 10,000 moderator posts magically appear, all sifted into their proper threads in the proper order.

Alright—PNG!
It appears to use the original file name. What happens if someone uses a file name that’s already been used?
22.Oct.2005 8.46am
Duplicate file names get renamed filename01.jpg, etc. There is a known bug where the javascript that adds the [img:] tag sometimes won't reflect the change, however. I'm working on that as we speak.

Thank you Christian!

Er... not to turn this into the bug report page, but when I get here from the “recent posts” page and then use the back button to go back to the “recent posts” page, I get a “page not found” error. If I reload when I’m on the error page, it comes back.
22.Oct.2005 9.06am
Oh, and thanks, Christian, for all the work you’ve put into this. It’s really shaping up. Seems faster, too.

Needless to say, Christian rules. I’m lucky to sit by him (when I get to sit)

Christian is the man.
Norbert, now I’m going to hear Antonio Banderas’ voice every time I read your posts.
Here, take a look at my new ride... I’m trying to recreate an African safari with the kiddie pool in the background. Oh, and on the other side of that fence is Chesh’s house. =)

> Norbert, now I’m going to hear Antonio Banderas’ voice every time I read your posts.
That’s OK. Antonio and I are often mistaken for each other. I know that’s true because my wife keeps calling out, “Antonio, Antonio!”

OK! So I am ready to test this with an important photo op from the Oval Office:-)

Vince, I knew you were getting your license since I caught up with your motorcycle escapades on Flickr. But I didn’t know you were scoping the Multistrada. The 620 rocks and I dig it in yellow.

Chris,
It was the shirt,( it looks neon pink on my monitor ) and the car aint so bad, I gotta 94 hand-me-down Maxima.
24.Oct.2005 2.13am
yes the Vespa is more wabblely, small wheels and very bottom heavy.. motorcycles are more stable and easier to take curves and move. But in England you have to do a test with a 500cc manual if you want to ride a proper motorcycle. America they seem to let you ride if you take a class. But in England you have to take a class just to be allowed to ride a 125cc scooter or motorcycle and that is as high as you can go until you do your full test and written test.
I’m going to rent a Multistrada 620 if I can and also test the Honda CBR 600RR or 600F. the Honda sounds nice but the Ducati is cooler and a good city bike. The Suzuki Gn125 that I’m renting is a piece of junk.. clutch is loose it needs a bit of choke to start up and then has a bit of trouble keeping an idle. The gears can be a bit clunky and it can’t hit 50mph even though I have done 53mph on my Vespa and the Vespa sounds better than the Suzuki.
24.Oct.2005 5.13am
Wow! These people are allowed to drive!?
24.Oct.2005 6.12am
YAHOO! What a great find!
Thanks!

> America they seem to let you ride if you take a class.
No, the motorcycle written test is actually pretty hard, much
harder than the car one (although I admit that’s not saying much).
The last time I took it I barely passed. The actual riding test I
couldn’t tell if it was hard or not, since I’d been riding for a few
years already... in Beirut - now THAT was an effective “class”. :-)
