hello,
i apologize for my bad english
i speak spanish
and i live -legally- in germany
i am working at a software project for small children
between 3 and 6 years old
i can not not yet show you samples of this,
but i wil try to describe it
because i have enough of the soft aqarell romantic stodge
because i think that children are not treated seriously
because most of the software is made without asking them
i and my team are working since eight months at "kolis"(not the real name)
i, and my team, ben 3, pablo 4, luis 5 and boris 5 1/2 years old
are working with the principle of schlichheit (simplicity) and straightness
we are thinking in terms of reducing everything to the max
and we take a lot of care of balance and proportion, color and composition
the elements -charaktere-simbols-numbers-sound- are austere, thrifty inserted
there is a lot of blank space
sound is minimal
and it works! without stress without scores, this is a software to play,
to learn to use the computer and to learn some basics like characters, numbers, colors, etc
and i use akzidenz grotesk
i know it works, (children have no problems recognizing it)
i think this is a beautiful font (i am jus an illustrator)
i think it has some of this simplicity and straight (precise) character wich i want
i am not definitively sure about this choice,
i ask you with a respectfully bow
what do you think?
(about the font choice?)
best regards
supay

Akzidenz Grotesk sounds perfect for your project.

I haven't used AG on a monitor.
There might be a problem on screen, especially in the bold weight at small size.
Look at the lower case "e", and how narrow the gap is into the bottom counter (inside space).
