// THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE:
// Design three alternate ampersands for one weight of one font.
6 Jun 2006 — 1:12am
This is for an existing, known font, yes? (rather than for something of our own design)

It can be for an existing font, one of your own, or something new.

Sebastian, great job first off. Just wanted to point out something strange, not good, not bad, just something. Your second try reminds me of this, right off the bat (pun intended):

i can't help but feel like i'm going to get slaughtered for this, but what the heck. it was more fun than doing work..

I've always hated the ampersand in Berthold City. Here's a few of my ideas. I like the second one the best.

I like em. Yes, your three all fit the style of the text better than the original. Not absolutely sure about the third, but the first two sure should be in that font!

definitely better than the original.
I think the third one would work as well, but I would make the diagonal upstroke thinner (like in the original "e").

The third one was looking too thin when I originally drew it. I think I overcompensated. It was sort of a last minute throw-in anyway because we needed three. Here's the fix.

it's funny how the one you 'force out' (like your last) sometimes ends up getting the most attention. i like all three, particularly the first, but i'm strangely drawn to the last as well, particularly with the improvement.

"it’s funny how the one you ‘force out’ (like your last) sometimes ends up getting the most attention."
But I guess this is because the other two fit so well that there is no need to discuss them.

How did I miss this, a crying shame :(
