how do I paste vector charactures from illustrator in to fontlab?

Please go to http://www.fontlab.com/html/support.html and fill the "FontLab Problem Report Form". Pack the image, your Illustrator file and the VFB file into one ZIP or SIT file and attach it with your message there.

Also, are you sure that you followed all the steps described in the "Using Illustrator to draw typefaces" tip that I sent you? Especially, in Illustrator | Preferences | Files & Clipboard, did you disable PDF, enable AICB and select Preserve Paths?
