Here's another chromium rounded geometric sans. I seem
remember this one from old rub-down lettering catalogues,
but don't ask me its name...

That's Neon Lights, and it's free. For my money, however, I like Letraset's Chromium 1 better.

The font is also known as Quicksilver & Quantum

Quicksilver is the original Letraset name for it. Chromium One is a different Letraset font along similar lines.

It also appears that Letraset's Quicksilver is only available in the form of crummy unauthorized free fonts.

Yup, an unfortunate fate for quite a few typefaces it seems...

Dean Morris, the designer of Quicksilver was kind enough to give us a history of it here:
http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/forum/viewthread.php?threadid=22838

So I’ve dug up this old thread to share it with you.

P.S. Once upon a time Bitstream had digitized it — also, OPTIFONTS had it.
