Polyphonic Spree or The Sound of Music Type by Herb Lubalin

Hello I was wondering what typeface this is based off of even though it is customized. and/or id anyone know what The Sound Of Music type is based off of by Herb Lubalin in his book. I just want to find out the digital version of the typeface. Thanks in Advance!

I'm not sure what the exact typeface is, but "Affair" from Veer is along the same lines.

cool thanks for the tip about affair... I do know of that... but I am looking more for a match of the sound of music one or more like this polyphonice spree one. Anyone? Please Help! Thanks.

Not all lettering is based off of existing typefaces, Quite on the contrary. This is definitely not based on anything.

Jason Walcott sure knows how to handle curly stuff, so maybe check his Jukebox Type faces.

Tony Di Spigna who was a partner at Herb Lubalin does a lot of lettering in this style. I wonder if he worked on the original "Sound of Music" logo.
