Need better typeface

A friend of mine is getting tatted up. She wants to get a certain word in a script font. I suggested a few, she came back with

Freebooter - http://www.dafont.com/freebooter-script.font

I want to suggest to her a more professional version of this. This feels pretty cheap.

Any suggestions?

I’d love to see a woman with a tat made from this:

Personally, I am partial to Linotype’s Zapfino Variants, Zapfino Two might be a good fit.

TypeSetIt’s Passions Conflict might also be an appropriate choice :)

Freebooter is very shaky – inconsistent weights and heights and at base poorly drawn, (it has recently been a bane).
You could also look at

Or, my choice, hand-drawn.

My favorite script is the Kuenstler Script

Thinking about it more, I guess it depends in part on the word she plans on getting inscribed.

A fun choice if she likes the gothic look of Blackletter fonts might be Ardenwood

Have a look at the Script fonts at Wilton Foundry

For a tattoo I’d go with Porcelain (with some minor hand tweaking) by Eduardo Recife.

Fair crack of the whip, I did freebooter fairly quickly and rough, i’d not done nothing like this before and it was a learning experience. Why do you think its free

I have nothing against people creating, showing or giving away their learning experiences, unfortunately a client saw it and wanted to use it for some window vinyls and frankly it wasn’t good enough at that kind of scale.

I agree, it is really just a plaything and not a serious work.

If it’s a good tat shop, shouldn’t someone there should be well versed in freehand scripts themselves?

Tim, just a question. What do you mean “it has recently been a bane”. I know the problems with the choice in regard to this thread, but in what other way. recently, did it affect you ?

The window vinyls I mentioned above, a client saw and chose the typeface, when I saw it I realised that I would need to redraw the characters, not so bad, but the client came back and wanted new vinyls within a tight lead-time.
