Why not? I’ve wanted to join for awhile and it hasn’t been possible. Isn’t the point of membership to support the hard work of the typophile team? What’s the diff?

It seems to me that the spirit of the donation should not be encumbered by expecting something in return. I think most of us did it simply to show appreciation for this event. But there’s no reason different views can’t be accomodated... via the making of future donations by the willing. :-)

I like the idea of the membership thing remaining voluntary. I first found the site several years ago, and didn’t join right away because I thought it was paid only (and at that time money and food were a bit more closely connected in my life).

Now that I can, I will pay my share, but I like the idea that there is no distinction between those who have, and those who cannot (or will not, I suppose). Or if there is a distinction, let it be on the profile page or somewhere, and not on the forums.

hrant

Actually, there was a distinction back when membership was offered: access to certain parts of the site. On the other hand those parts remained tellingly deserted (even though there were a good number of -otherwise active- members).

Oddly(?), for me it was there until I logged in, then it was gone.

> Anyone having trouble with the RSS not showing most of what gets posted?

I believe the RSS of thread posts was purposely delayed when the forum was just back online the first time. I’m not sure if it still is after it came back online the second time, with the new hosting package, though.

It looks like it, sometimes a lot of new posts show up in my reader, other times only sporadically, eventhough there are new threads.
