I'm lost in space and need some cosmic vibes...
Hopefully someone can help by
suggesting a typeface to a prog-rock cover I need to
make a concept for.
The client has supplied the attached image
and if referring to the type at the top and the bottom.
But the cosmic type in the middle is amazing!
Can anyone suggest a suitable face?
Thanks in adavance
Mr Brown

Get a bigger sample of covers. Look at Hawkwind, Amon Düül II, Faust, Can, Ash Ra Tempel, etc. You will find much diversity in the work. Remember that this music sprang from a reverence for the velvets not American blues.
If you can find a copy of Julian Cope's Kroutrock Sampler take a look at that. It has lots of covers.
Yeti is one of the classics and it is pretty clean.

Thanks Jupiter!
We did initially go for something clean and the client sent back
the cosmic thing that I posted.
I agree with finding a lot of diversity but sometimes clients
can be real stick in the mud's
find something like this!

Look at Hawkwind in that case.

Faust had the best covers. And music.
But it certainly wasn't space oriented.

"Faust had the best covers."
I would have to say Yes.

Faust IV is usually my suggestion for someone new to the genre. I've got little tolerance of guitar noodling. It is the pop sensibilities that shine through for me.
I often read that Wayne Kramer was highly influenced by Faust. Not surprising.
I've got a few of the Comic Jokers repressings that I appreciate as graphic design objects.
