Hey guys, I’m having trouble identifying this beautiful type specimen. It’s from the June 2007 issue of the Thailand Tatler, a magazine I picked up on a recent trip to Bangkok. Does anyone recognize this face? Or if anyone could suggest something similar, that would be helpful as well.

Is it Mercury Display Italic?

No - but so similar. Wonder if it was a HTF custom job.

this has a nice feel to it. However, the caps are too heavy and the n and h are too wide and the leg gets heavy out of the join too soon (needs more thick-thin contrast like the other letters). I know its not up for critique but its got so many nice things going for it (c e f s g) that I hate to see those unfortunate oddities.
Just my 2¢

Curious on the ID as well.

A display version of Corundum?

My instincts say it is. All the signs of Fournier and Darden are there.

This just in by e-mail from Josh:

“It is. The display counterpart to Corundum Text, working from Fournier’s largest types (heavy caps and all).

Confirmed. Good one, Stewf. ;^)

I gotta say, I’m pretty proud of that one.

You have every reason to be — that was some fine display of observation, analysis and deduction. :^)
