minor a
I am feeling just bored a little.
So I ask a thing that makes me curious.
Why is the minor ‘a’ so hard to design?
Or am I the only one in the world who spends months designing and correcting
this tiny little letter in every face I do?
Or is this indeed the most difficult and therefore interesting letter form?

Stefan, I think it differs from designer to designer. I find the lc “o” and lc “x” the hardest. Lowercase “a” and “g” are most fun.

I agree with Peter. Lowercase x is a hard one.

I usually have difficulties with the the ’o’ and the ’x’ as well.
Sometimes drawing the ’v’ and ’w’, so thay they fit with the style of the typeface, are also a pain. With the last design I’m working on, drawing the ’s’ has also been quite a lot of work.

I spend a lot of time with lc a as well, not because it’s difficult, but it’s fun tweaking it to perfection. It’s a unique letter. The hardest I would have to say would be lc s and e/c.

Yes, I think you are all right.
I believe I spend so much time with the ‘a’ because it’s so much fun, too.
Guess it makes me a bad type designer enjoying so much drawing things like the ‘a’ and
neglecting so much important things like hinting, making the hard letters and so on ;-)
Peter, agree with you that ‘a’ and ‘g’ are one of a kind in a certain way.
Strange in my case that I use to take and keep (!) my very first and spontanous version of the ‘g’
whereas in the case of ‘a’ I do it over and over again.
In fact its because the straight line that in the ‘a’ must not be a straight one, yet I don’t want it to be
curved as well. Something in the middle. Sometimes harder to achieve with beziérs than drawing it by hand.
Yes, the ‘o’! It is very hard. Fortunately it doesn’t draw my attention too much :-)))
Lowercase ‘s’ is fun isn’t it?
Ok ok better stop here
thanks guys for your opinions
good to know that someone shares..

Very nice work, Peter!
Specially the ‘a’ ;-)
Has that kind of Fournier character that I like so much and never achieve in my own works.
