I found this on their site: - Our "Severance" font was originally hand drawn by our former Design Director (and named after her). As the company grew, she couldn't keep up with all the writing, so her hand lettering was converted to a computer format so we could type in the lettering rather than keep her up 24 hours a day. It is a proprietary font, owned by Ben & Jerry's and is not available for sale or downloading.
Rough from Linotype is a similar match in playfulness but a *bit* on the skinny side ;) I was looking at the cap A in particular (from the B&J) and Rough does have the same top slab to the left. But thats it.
I have seen a few newstyle slabs being designed. Cam (http://www.testpilotcollective.com/) is a great example. And dont you just love FF Zapata? (http://www.letterror.com/foundry/zapata/index.html) Hey Gringo! ;) and last, that crazy Machine Slab from HTF, Acropolis.(http://www.typography.com/catalog/acropolis/index.html)
Now all I have to do is make my own! Uhh, see you in a year ;)

I believe those are custom fonts. I don't think they've ever been made available generally.

You might wanna check some members of the Rat Fink Fonts over at House Industries. It's got the same spirit and atmosphere.

I think Fink has some funk! and as for HI... love the collective.

Thanks for looking into this Brennan. I've been
wondering about the B&J Slab for a long time.

LinotypeLibrary has a font called "Rough" which seems to be pretty close to Severance.

Did you notice it has three weights?

Yep, but they are still skinny.
This is the bold weight:
