Hi everyone.

I am helping a friend out with a magazine logo tweak and wondered if anyone could advise on the best way to construct a gd ligature with Adobe Caslon.

Does anyone know of this being done before, regardless of the typeface?

Thanks,

Graham

With a little work it wouldn’t be too had to find a good way to bring the ear over to the bowl of d.

You might get quite an amusing bespectabled form :)

Maybe you could merge the top bowl of the g and the bowl of the d. You’d have to figure out how to elegantly reconcile their sizes, positions, and stresses, though.

here’s what I’ve done so far.

Something just bugs me about it.

The one above is the one my mate did, below my own version.

I would pull the ear of the g higher to echo what you are doing in the Ki lig. I think the gd lig is getting lost as it is. Also what about not doing a ligature & doing a differrent ear - maybe one like this:

Maybe not practical, but consider that there already exists the phonetic ligature for the digraph ng.
