Hello all Swedes vad heter "originalare" på engelska? eller vad är motsvarigheten? lite konstig grej kanske att fråga på typophile.. men jaja. vet ni? -Core
translation: what is the english term for "originalare"? or what's the corresponding function at an ad agency. a slightly odd thing to ask at typophile, perhaps. but well well. do you know
(originalare is the person who does the bidding of the AD so to speak, the guy who takes sketches or whatever and makes them into the printable product)
but this person doesn't "design" anything. he/she just "executes" and is not involved in the design process at all, and not allowed to take any design decisions.
it's similar to the construction worker that must follow the architect's blueprint.
Right, that's what they call them (in my part of the States, anyway). The production designer is a tool of the art director or graphic designer. He assembles the stuff, as directed and gets it ready for prepress.
i think working monkey better describes something known as a desktop publisher. maybe more lower primate names need to be involved. working orangutan is higher than working spider monkey, etc.

I always had it was graphical designer? (ie. grafisk formgivare), but I would think working-monkey would suffice also.

Production artist is the term used in most places I've worked... however, slave might be a more accurate term.

ouch... my old CD used to refer to them as "pairs of hands."
He liked to use the construction worker/architect analogy a lot, too.
But, um, don't most ADs and designers have to work their way up from a purely production position?
