I am talking about the Ornate font

That’s almost certainly a custom logo design, not a font at all.

Cheers,

Ya, that’s what I was afraid of. I was just hoping there would be a victorian / harrington style font that would come close.

Thanks Thomas

James, I don’t have a font like that but I do have a book which has that particular monogram along with hundreds of others covering probably most two-letter combinations.

Are you looking for a particular combination?

Intellecta Monograms, recently released, has monograms in similar styles, but good luck finding the one you want.

Thanks everyone. So far Cerulean’s info was the most helpful. Majus, I need JR and JD and then just D if you can find it.

James, those fonts look very much like what is in my book but the set is not complete. The fonts only go through the GW monogram right now so I guess yours are to come.

I have a JR but no JD although I have two DJ monograms; no stand-alone D though. Also, while the shapes are the same as your sample, in my book one letter is filled in so they differ in that respect. If you like I can scan them and post them here.

The book I have is also available on abe.com for $170.00. It dates to the latter half of the 19th century, probably somewhere along in the 1880-90 range.

George,

That’s awesome, I am going to try to find the book online. In the mean time, if you could post the JR and the JD monograms, that would be so helpful.

Thank you so much for your time,

James

James, this info will help you find the book:

“Alphabets, Monograms, Initials, Etc.” offered by Add-More Books, Inventory #NF01226. They are in Danville, VA.

James,

As it turns out there were three DJ monograms.

Problem is, a jpeg is too big to post here although a PDF would work but I cannot post a PDF. Can you give me an email address where I can send it?

George
