Yahoo has been infamously the ugliest site that has any money since it started. I don't know what the point of them has ever been.

Whoa...this seems absurd. Seems that the best way to fend off the likes of MS would be to INVEST in design innovation. It also seems a bit of the baby-with-the-bathwater syndrome. They had 1000 folks on that staff!? Why not maybe let 900 go? Still keep 100 design innovators around.

*sigh*

(All that said, I'm not really sure what the design innovation team is over there...are they part of the YUI team?)

A staff of 1000 and that was the best they could come up with? Their stuff always looked like Frat Party posters made by John Balushi.

I think I misread that one sentence. Sounds like they're laying of 1000 folks, but not that they necessarily had that many in that particular department. Stil...

"Their stuff always looked like"

To be fair, let's not confuse 'design' with 'graphic design'. The design team was really more about UX design.

"I’m sure Google will re-hire most of those fired"

Ha! So true.
