does anyone know what font this is?

?

I seem to remember it's called "Vonnes" and it's custom.

I think this is a version of Venus Sans by Font Bureau...

Whoops! Vonnes it is... Knew it was a "v" name.

You're right about Venus:

[...] There is, however, a very visible variant of Venus (including Venus Bold Extended) in use by Macromedia for their corporate identity. It is called

where can I buy this font? -couldn't find it at Font Bureau...

Is there something similar?

You can't, unless you happen to know someone at either Macromedia or FB you could bribe.

quote:

Being a corporate commission, Vonnes is not available to the public.

Vonnes was briefly listed on the Font Bureau site a few years ago, and I called to ask about licensing it. They informed me that Macromedia had renewed its exclusivity deal through '05, as I recall.

Venus is available from URW and Linotype:

Given the merger I wonder if this will be made available at retail? Perhaps the new company will adopt it and leave Myriad to Apple ;-)

Wow, a thread recycled from a year and a half ago!

I'm guessing that if it was a question of exclusivity for Macromedia versus Font Bureau being able to resell it to others, that Macromedia has no rights to resell to others.

That being said, it's something I will be looking into in the next few weeks, as I assess Macromedia's font assets (among other type-related stuff).

Vonness is available.
Although not release yet, you can license it by calling Font Bureau.

I like doing that too. :-)

Vonnes produced by The Font Bureau

Boston magazine was using it at one time. I haven't see that mag for a while so maybe someone local can check. They used Vonnes and Miller.
