Now, that’s my problem: I have an arabic text in word and I’m trying to paste that text in a Indesign layout but the text is displayed left to right. I wonder if it is some way to set text direction. I searched the internet for a solution and found a script that reverse the text in a single paragraph.
Somebody have a better solution?

You need to use another version of InDesign, called InDesign ME, from a company called WinSoft. This will let you work with scripts that are right to left running, like Hebrew and Arabic.

Alternatively, you can make a PDF from Word and place this as a graphic.

Hmm… I don’t know! Maybe try copying the text from Word to TextEdit and then to InDesign?

this is the first time I’m working with Arabic and InD ME. Is there a script or something that I need to run after pasting the text, or should it work if I just copy and paste?

I’ll try your suggestion about copying the text to TextEdit and then to InD.

thanks.

I don’t see why you have a problem; no problem here.

Are you working with ME Type Tool?

Where+When working with Arabic, always do:
1. Try importing instead of Copy+Pasting.
2. Make sure that the Text:
• goes right to left in direction (Justification is another issue).
• is Arabic-Spaced not Latin-Spaced, and
3 the Language of paragraphs is also Arabic.
