Does anyone know which typeface this is. This is the sans version but I have also seen an equivalent roman version with serifs only on one side of stems etc...

It’s a customised Trade Gothic Bold Condensed No.20.

Actually it is Serifedsans, an extinct David Carson font. Read more here or here.
