Hi,

has anyone seen the exhibition about Mardersteig, i.e. the work of the Stamperia Valdonega,
before the opening of the book fair in Leipzig?

I feel boring and wondering if anyone wants to speak about it..

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

I’m planning to go there next week.
The exhibition will last until end of June. The website of the Druckkunst-Museum has more information.

Florian: how was it? Did you manage to take any pictures?

Antonio: Yes, I’ve been there and I also could take a few pictures:

A visit to the Museum für Druckkunst in Leipzig pays, anyway. And the Mardersteig exhibition is really very impressive. If you have the opportunity, I strongly advise you to go there.

Alas, the photos hardly convey the ambiance that emanates from the numerous exhibits. As I couldn’t really capture the books’ formidable spirit, I just picked a couple of interesting details.

By the way: the accompanying catalogue is online at the Stamperia Valdonega website, as a Flash file that can be searched, browsed and zoomed.

Stefan: yes, I did. Only, it’s a pity that you can’t touch the books and browse through their pages. They all are behind glass (of course).

Yes, I understand.
But if you are really interested, you may get in touch directly with Mardersteig.
Maybe he will show you something, to touch also. ;-)
I you want I can ask him.
And by the way: Verona is always worth a journey for it’s definitely the most beautiful city in the world!

wishes
Stefan
