Looking for examples of comedic typography (movies etc)
Thanks for reading.
I’m looking for examples of typographic work with a comedic element, it doesn’t have to be funny. The most examples I’ve seen show letters expressing the word they build with their shape, rotation or color. It can be anything like an album cover or the intro to a movie. The Disney movie Alice In Wonderland has a good example:

Consider the work of Alan Fletcher. Although, perhaps, I’d say his was more wit than comedy.
The Art of Looking Sideways by Alan Fletcher
Alan Fletcher: Picturing and Poeting by Alan Fletcher
Beware Wet Paint by Alan Fletcher
Also consider A Smile in the Mind by Beryl McAlhone. This book is all about wit and humor in design. It does contain some work by Mr. Fletcher.

Not typography but lettering: some of Saul Steinberg’s cartoons...

Saul Steinber has been about 50% of what I’ve found so far. Anything like it?
Thanks to both of you!

Children’s books (Shel Silverstein’s poetry collections for example) might have some ideas. There’s one called Chicka Chicka Boom Boom that might work, too.

Thanks! Does anyone know a movie with interesting intro texts or credits with a comedic aspect?

Edward Gorey’s Amphigorey books come to mind.
As for movie titles I looked for the original Casino Royale, What’s New Pussycat?, On a Clear Day, etc. but I’m not finding sources to check what I remember to be at least fun animated titles.
Also look at Sesame Street and Electric Company shorts.

the old batman TV show used to use typography to replace violence in the show, when they’d crack a guy over the head with a chair, the word “SMASH” would show on the screen instead of the violence itself.
I don’t know if this is what you’re going for, but it’s a very well-known trick and I think it’s genius.
