Typeface needed: A contemporary twist on an quintessentially English typeface such as Gill / Baskerville
0

Hi

I would appreciate any suggestions for a contemporary typeface that is a twist/been inspired by a quintessentially English typeface – such as Gill Sans / Baskerville / or other any others not known to me – I am already aware of the connection between Baskerville and Mrs. Eaves – but everything else is welcome.

Many thanks
J

You could try looking at [[http://www.fontbureau.com/fonts/Agenda|Agenda]] as a substitute for Gill.

There's also Gill's [[http://www.fonts.com/findfonts/detail.htm?pid=243061&grab_id=0&page_id=3...|Golden Cockrel]], [[http://www.foundrytypes.co.uk/|Foundry Wilson]] or maybe Jeremy Tankard's [[http://www.typography.net/type/kingfisher.htm|Kingfisher]]

Thank you both. I had no idea about Gill's Golden Cockrel, very interesting.
