Pair with Neo Sans

I’m working on a manual using Neo Sans for the headers, call-outs etc... and need something to pair with it for body copy. I can’t purchase any new faces so preferably I need something from the adobe library.

Currently I’m using serifa but I don’t think it works with lots of copy.

The manual is for the healthcare industry and has an “elegant science” sort of feel. (think macro shots of viruses against black backgrounds)

Any help is appreciated, Thanks

It’s a shame you’re limited to Adobe because the majority of that library has a very classical or American feel which may not be appropriate for Neo. Contrast can be good, though.

Ahh, PMN Caecilia could be considered a great text-optimized alternative to Serifa.

I do have that one, I’ll give it a shot.

My concern is it will seem to “light” for the material (influenza).

>to “light”
You mean not serious enough?

What is inside the adobe library?
ITC Charter? I would try this with NeoSans.

And which weight(s) do you want use for your headlines?

Not serious enough is what I meant by light (I guess it would have been easier to say that)

I wish I had charter, the closest I have is joanna, but it doesn’t seem as modern. I tried using Utopia and it was o.k. but didn’t fit as well as I would like.

I’m not sure on which weights I only have the bold and regular so I’ve got a 50/50 chance of using one of those

There is a (i think) legal version of a modified Charter called Charis SIL, but read the EULA – at least it’s possible with this version to prove the combination live.

Thanks for the help Poms and Stephen, I’ll try a few of these out and see how they work.

BTW
@Stephen
What would you suggest as a matching Neo Sans - serif partner in that field (“High Tech Medicine”)?

ITC Charter was a great idea. I also don’t think Caecilia is too casual. Other modern, crisp serifs:

Swift
Karmina
Oranda
Freight

Helpful list thanks, especially for suggesting Karmina (which i’ve never seen before).
