InDesign and font filenames

I am in the throws of modifying a bunch of old fonts to better work with InDesign within our production environment.

Somewhere, somehow InDesign is associating a certain font with a font filename. I discovered this by having renamed a font family and reloading the font. InDesign was still showing the OLD font family name in its menu. All I had to do was to rename the font FILE and InDesign saw the new font family name.

Does anyone know where InDesign is storing such information?

Many thanks,
Ken

Probably the AdobeFntXX.lst files (where XX is a version number). You can delete them and they will be regenerated.

That’s what I thought as well. In the past I’ve tried deleting the ones I know about but it didn’t seem to work. Next time the problem occurs I’ll try searching the entire hard drive again.

Thanks for the input and any other suggestions are more than welcome.

Check
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/TypeSupport/FntNames.db

There are quite a few hardcoded names (and even some re-encoding schemes) there, mostly for old Type 1 fonts.
