Si, I’ve been outside of the American job market for awhile. What sort of level position is a Program Manager? Does a Program Manager manage projects, or co-ordinate a team of co-workers, too? Thanks!
19.Aug.2008 1.21pm
Microsoft has a pretty specific definition for program manager, but within my group PMs manage projects for internal customers (like Office, Zune, etc.,) consult and advise on typographic issues company-wide and define strategy, specs and for fonts for Window. The PM’s don’t have any full time employees reporting to them but they do manage work completed by vendors and contractors.

I wonder how many people from ahem are applying.
I wonder what font they’re resetting their resumes in. Georgia?

Do you have to have a really bad haircut to qualify for that job? Is body odor a problem for potential candidates? Does the position include a company Vespa? Or at least one of those cool three-wheel bikes with a basket on the back?

Come over to the dark side, indeed.
If Si were running the company, the position would be Font Lord :-)

How are you going to pacify the Klingons?

Hmm. seem to have a dual post. Guess the ringer always posts twice.

No, I won’t discriminate if anyone from Tennessee or the open source community were to apply.
“How are you going to pacify the Klingons?”
Actually we have a history of antagonizing the Klingons, by opposing the encoding of Klingon in Unicode.

I’d prefer to be called a “semantic markupist” or a “standardista” rather than a part of the open source community.
(Actually I was just bored. These posts help keep your spam at the top of the list awhile longer though.)

Si,
Hire someone with a good sense of humor. Anyone else just would not be of any use to you.
Do Mac people get a frontal lobotomy when applying?

We respect diversity and will accept applications from anyone regardless of their religious beliefs.

Interesting. In general I’ve found Floridians to have a wonderful sense of humor.

Well there used to be a great tradition of shoot first, ask questions later. Now they tend to skip the questions part.

As you can see it is totally unaccord. In the other hand that is exactly what a kingon would have done. Bang, bang.

Just closing the loop - We had a good number of sci-fi loving, sense-of-humor-enhanced, font-appreciating applicants, and in the end we went with a local guy… http://www.microsoft.com/typography/links/news.aspx?NID=6264
Cheers!
