Since I inadvertently killed the previous type ID thread, I feel it's my duty to start a new one. Apologies.

quiz

Franz has it, almost.
Italic K.

Man, I am so bad at this. Don't ever let me have a child; I can't even adequately tend to the type ID pop quiz. Here's a new image.

quiz2

It doesn't seem entirely outside the bounds of
sanity to wonder whether TheSerif might have
an alternate K that looks like this, but I can't
find any way to check without spending a lot
of money.

I'll save you the money Robin. It's not TheSerif.

Some clues:

Bingo.
Apex Serif Book (Italic Caps).

Gosh you're clever Yves.
Looks right to me...

link to Apex fontmaker/distributors?

Lowercase q from Dispose by Lee Fasciani?
http://www.union-fonts.com/displayfonts.php?category=d</font>

ploddingly slow tho, 8 long minutes
tick tock
tick tock,
480 seconds.
That's an eternity at the Type ID board. :-)

heads up: another quiz coming shortly.

from the 1980s

excellent guess, but no.

You just blew my mind, BJ.

sorry, the tongue went thru the cheek there. :D

It is a lowercase r. btw, the typeface has never
been mentioned at Typophile.

Nicely solved. It's all yours!

here's the link.
http://www.linotype.com/13642/guardi75bold-font.html

that is the strangest @ i have ever seen! : )

It is a treble clef though, isn'it it?

If it isn't a treble clef, could it be an ampersand

Is it LHF Ephemera?

Great descriptors! IMHO, It's underbite is its most distinctive and lovely feature. :-) And yes, it's a lowercase e.

Is it British?

Yes. It's british.

Designed by Eric Gill?

Do you think Eduardo has it? It looks very similar to Aries.

It not only looks similar to Aries, it is Aries. Underrated and spectacular, it's long been one of my favorites. It was originally drawn by Eric Gill in 1932 as a private commission for a Chinese Pottery catalog. It's much-needed revival was designed was English designer Dave Farey in 1995. Great job!

Let me emphasise that I'm not trying to claim this id: the credit belongs squarely and entirely to Eduardo! :-)

Great job indeed, Robin!
I checked Joanna and Perpetua... but they don't have the rounded treatment. Completely forgot about Aries, I think I only saw it once a long time ago.

> Great job indeed, Robin!

Oh, come off it. All I did was to think "Hmm, maybe Eduardo has a point there",
go to http://www.myfonts.com/person/gill/eric/ and start clicking on things!

(Interestingly that page doesn't list Gill Facia or Gill Floriated Caps,
which is probably sensible, because I think they both owe more to Monotype
than to Eric Gill.)

That's the way the world works sometimes, Robin. While you're learning to love it, post a new quiz, wouldja?

Yeah, it's your turn, Robin.

I know when I'm defeated. :-(

Looks very similar to Stanhope from Red Rooster.

Edit: I take that back. It's not similar. My Bad. Attribute this to temporary comatose.

European, First half of Twentieth Century.

No bites?

Another GIF, another glyph:

It's an _f_?

Yes, Yves, I think you're right. Let us hear Robin.

By the way, sorry for the "It's" instead of "Is it" of my previous post. My English is rusted and I'm always thinking in Spanish.

Looks like an "r" to me (?) Either way Bernard Modern is an excellent guess.

Yes, 'e' and 'f' from Bernhard Modern. Yves, the floor is yours!

karl can you give us another hint or image or something? :-)

Karl don't let the Type ID Pop Quiz die on us for the fourth time! :-)

(without checking so I might be miles off) Apex Serif?

Yeee-hah! Subconscious recognition is da bomb!
I'm not necessarily clever, I'm just good at remembering faces. :-)
