I’ll never get over you english speaking people calling that font ‘Helvetica Neue’.
It’s like saying ’Times Roman New’. ‘Neue’ means new. So please (Patrick), make that ‘Neue Helvetica’. Thanks.

hmmm Jan
You can’t blame him...
Even when you order the font or activate the font
it will say helvetica neue. Instead of Neue Helvetica

I assume its because of the alphabetical order...
By the way...nice stuff jeff

Linotype is the one to blame, of course.
How about a ‘Goudy Style Old‘-T?
By the way...nice stuff jeff

Linotype is the one to blame, of course.
So they were deliberately pandering to the English speakers of the world? :-)

You know what’s just as bad or worse, Jan? Hearing English speakers pronounce “Neue” exactly the same as “New”. (Yes, I know I sound like an insufferable snob when I say that, but it’s true!)

Thanks everyone!
I didn’t mean this to turn into a Helvetica discussion :)
Patrick: Nice work! I like the shirts.

Sorry Jeff, I just meant to wish you luck. Great discussion though. I wasn’t aware of the word order controversy. In French I know they would put the adjective second, while technically in English it would come first, so even in English “New Helvetica” is grammatically correct while “Helvetica New” doesn’t make sense in English.
Anyway, let’s talk about Jeff’s smoking shirts instead.
