New to Typophile? Accounts are free, and easy to set up.
I'm looking for a good EULA for free fonts. The fonts will be free for download for regular commercial and personal use but not free for repackaging, redistribution, renaming etc. Any help would be great. Or, feel free to laugh insanely.
Thanks,
James

I would use this:
This font is free for download for regular commercial and personal use but a paid license is required for repackaging, redistribution, renaming etc.

I have seen more than a few places (not so much fonts, but other sorts of software) that promote a "Free Download" of software that is useless in one way or another until you pay them. That they don't charge for initial downloading is enough in their minds to call it "free". I do not agree with this and consider it a shady business practice.
But anyway, as you were saying, many free fonts do carry the license you speak of, using nearly the same words you do in your question. No thick legal mumbo-jumbo. It doesn't offer much protection, but will at least make courteous repackagers ask first. Be sure to include contact information, including an email address you can be contacted at for years to come.

If you take any of the advice given here you're an idiot.
Hire an attorney who is conversant in these matters, and stop asking legal advice from a forum that can't possible give it to you.
Or do you think that you can get something here for free?

James, why be so mean? He did say to go ahead and laugh insanely.
Plus lawyers and free fonts don't really work well together.
> Or do you think that you can get something here for free?
Well, duh.
Have you seen the critique forums?

I considered a lawyer, but then decided that I'd better make the mortgage payment instead. Legal disclaimers are only in place for honest people to clarify the transaction. Legalese only clouds the issue and does nothing to stand against theft or misuse.
The fact that I bother to post here at all is proof positive that I am an idiot.

Oops, cannot edit anymore:
James, this needs more precision:

Amen to that.
