I'm in a contest for designing a new logo for the CSUN Math Department.
The only condition is that it uses this logo as well:

Any idea of that this font is? I thought Palatino but I might be wrong. The lower case g seems off.

Garamond Condensed, I'd say.

The 'Northridge' definitely seems to be Garamond Condensed. The 'California State University' seems to be in a different font. The 'U' in university has a particular serif style to it.

I think Riccardo was right. They are just two different weights of the font.

Please note this is not Garamond but that damn bloody imposter ITC Garamond.
