Hi. It's been a while.
I don't know if I'm reinventing the wheel here, but this is something I did the other day. It is one-bit and it is teeny.
I think it's more effective for light text on a dark background. At that size, the glow of the screen has "gain" that breaks up black on white:

Teeny is putting it mildly. For what kind of displays do you envision this being used? On my Dell the pixels are so small that I have to stick my nose about three inches from the screen in order to be able to read this at all.

Which puts me at about 5 inches, I guess...
I think lawyers will get really excited about this design. :-)
