I noticed these two books on the same new releases table at Borders, and was surprised that they had been published almost simultaneously -- using the same stock photo on their jackets.

"Loop Group" by Larry McMurtry

"Bra: A Thousand Years Of Style, Support & Seduction" by Stephanie Pedersen

My friend Dave at Getty confirmed that this is one of theirs, "Image # 200018296-001, from our 'Taxi' collection."

Are we supposed to be titillated?

Here are a couple more cases (via a recent issue of Entertainment Weekly) involving two editions of the same book:

The Middle Mind (hardcover) vs. The Philosopher at the End of the Universe.

And, for an encore, The Middle Mind (paperback) vs. Never Coming to a Theater Near You.

You'd think one of these days people would wise up and start hiring photographers and illustrators again.

"The Middle Mind : Why Americans Don't Think for Themselves"
