Another typographic event looms on the horizon, so it is time to ask the usual question: who is going?

Linotype Typotechnica. St Bride Institute. London. February 17-19, 2005.

Not me, unfortunately.

It's not even a budget problem, just a timing issue. I have several key work projects that will be at a critical juncture around this time, and I can't be out for a week (which is what it would be what with preparing a talk, and travel time).

Anyway, I think David Lemon, Christopher Slye and Harold Grey will be there from Adobe. Christopher only has one key-deadline project on his plate, luck guy. :-)

Thomas/JFP, I'm sorry that you won't be able to attend! I'll make sure to raise a pint for each of you

Paul, that's fantastic! Say hello and I'll buy you a pint. I'll have more red hair than anyone else at the conference

Its a shame these conferences can't be scheduled at a time between semesters. January 17-19 would have been much better. Same problem with Atypi.

Hmm, that is a good suggestion! I'm not privy to how this date was determined, but I should point out that in Germany (and some other European countries?), February 17

Hi Dan

I was wondering just how technical it will be, I am still working my way through my 'Learn Fontlab Fast' manual, so will I get it?

Well, if you are still working your way through Learn FontLab Fast, then you are more advanced then I am! I don't work in FontLab yet. (But I will

Jim, I can only speak about my own session, but I will be presuming at least passing familiarity with MS VOLT, i.e. what is is for, the basic interface layout, etc., all of which I have covered in talks at previous Typotechnica events. The session in London will focus on tips and tricks for getting the most out of the tool, so I won't have time to start at the beginning.

Download information, manual and some tutorial material for VOLT is available here: http://www.microsoft.com/typography/VOLT.mspx
