The Type Directors Club has just posted the first announcement of its annual type design competition, TDC² 2012. The jury, chaired by Maxim Zhukov, includes Roger Black, Matthew Carter, Paul Shaw, and Erik Spiekermann. The deadline for submission is Friday, 16 December 2011.

What can I say? Matt and Paul have such awesome hair.
But the band would have more cred if Rog and Erik showed some tats or hardware.

That's old hat.
But speaking of cred, note that the promotion for ATypI's Letter.2 competition dropped the text I critiqued, and now uses the replacement text I suggested ( "…typefaces from the last ten years that represent excellence in type design.")
Either José found my argument credible, or he was fed up with being harangued :-)

The submission of entries to TDC² 2012 is now officially open. To enter your type designs to the competition go to www.tdc.org/enter, choose ‘ENTER’ in the middle column (‘TYPEFACE DESIGN’), and fill out the on-line forms.

Could you elaborate on how one should choose which category to enter?

The guidelines of the TDC² 2012 can be found here. They have not changed since last year… They are too long, and too detailed to retell. All ‘entry’, ‘script’ and ‘design’ categories are listed and explained there. What is the specific problem you have? Feel free to write me off-list.

José is a good guy who is probably not that comfortable writing in his 3rd or 4th language. I wish I could do as well in other languages :-)
