Menhart's "Manuscript"
Speaking of "Elements" ... Bringhurst mentions in version 2.5 that Oldrich Menhart's "Manuscript" has not yet been digitized and I agree it's a shame. Is there any certain reason? Is this a proprietory face or something?
If it's up for grabs for digitization, where would I find printed samples? Can you pick me some up in Prague, Rich?

When the iron curtain came crashing down the foundry (Czech Government Printing Office?) that provided Manuscript dumped all their metal type. I was doing the typographic work on a Czech "related" book at the time and with the help of a representative at Velk

1) Didn't I read in somebody's ATypI-Prague review that Storm doesn't seem to like Menhart much?
2) White's Czech fonts are considered too little too late by many.

Bravo! But I was looking for a little crisper version, at least that's how i envisioned how this face should be. Also I'm interested in both the Latin and Cyrillic fonts and would like to find samples of both, if at all possible. Gerald, could you email me and let me know how to get in touch with Robin? Thanks for your help on this one, people. 'preciatcha!

Say, Rich, you wouldn't be able to tell me where I misplaced my copy of A Tally of Types, would you? ;-)

Try next to the Cuisinart under the dim sum cookbook (just a wild guess)

Maxim, that thread you lead me to had a link to Franko Luin's version of this face at http://www.omnibus.se/engix/lkmanus.html. I went to the purchase options and there realy wasn't a purchase option. Anybody know anything about this?

I never bought anything from Franco Luin. I followed the link in your message, clicked on the "Order" button, and saw that Manuskript is not on the list. What's interesting is that the Manuskript package (MAN-5) is on the price list, at 108 USD. It does not look like Mr. Luin really wants to distribute it. That's understandable: the trademark is still there, and so could be the rights of Grafotechna[?].

Last I spoke with him he had no plans for distribution, but was interested.
