Why is it that through all downsizing newspapers playing for the newsstand that we see no difference in type?
Is it me, or is it neccessary to modify type in order for the format to work legibily?

Keeping the type exactly the same helps reassure the loyal reader that only the format is changing not the quality of the content. Maybe.
