Why stencil letters?

Wanted an urban/underground style of type to fit the brief

Maybe the black is a bit too much: it doesn’t blend much with the ripples.

what program did you use for this? just photoshop?

I didn't use any program, it's a photograph I only used photoshop to enhance the colour
