This was featured in the book 'Visible Signs'by David Crow but not referenced.
Vernacular, in the sense of an amateur trying to make a sign. The rounded corners are probably caused by or accentuated by (multiple) mediocre reproduction(s).
It's monospaced -- it may have been made using paper stencils bought at the hardware store.
