Passing off to you, Mr Harvey.

thanks Grant.

Here are two, pick your poison.

Both are from pdfs...

>> Mr Harvey.
bj harvey is a just a nickname.

You can call me bj or brian or even
bueller :-)

This "g" is from Precious Sans, a
beautiful typeface from GType!

This is GOOD!

Speaking of GType... does anyone know how to contact Nick Cooke? There is next to no information available on any of the sites that distribute his wonderful typefaces.

fabio, precious is correct, nice ID!

your turn.

the other one is "Archibald", a prelim. version
of Monticello from Matthew Carter.

bj

Thanks BJ Harvey,
This is my chalenge

A chalenge for typegeeks

Gook look!

We already had that one once, Fabio. It's the original italic lowercase z from Matthew Carter's Fenway (when I was typesetting Language Culture Type, Matthew sent me a replacement, non-descending glyph for the lowercase z, which I believe is now the standard Fenway form).

Ok John, you turn!

This image of the Fenway I captured of an PDF of
Annual Delegates Report from Atypi, of 2001, therefore the outdated ;D

Sorry about the delay, everyone. I clean forgot that I had even responded to the Type ID Quiz, let alone that I'd been right.

Here's the next quiz image:

Quiz

hi John. Is it the ampersand from Whitman?

No it's not, bj. But even I had to double-check.

The Whitman ampersand doesn't have such a steep curve on right side of the top loop. And with this crop you'd see a bit of the horizontal terminating cross-stroke.

It certainly looks like something from Gerard Unger.

My guess is Coranto.

No, not Coranto.

No, not Optima Nova.

The ampersand from Vesta?

Bingo! It is indeed the ampersand from the regular weight of Gerard Unger's Vesta. Your turn, Jes

Thanks John, I must admit that Eduardo put me on the right track.

Here it is the next one. Good luck!

anyone?

ok, it's been a long weekend, I'll start with the hints:

European designer.

is it
frantisek storm's
john sans sc italic?

Perfect!!

John Sans White SC Italic.

Your turn Karl.

Wow. I can't believe I got a type ID.

Give me a day or so to come up with something to post.

Ok, here it is. This might be too easy for this thread, but I'm sort of a newbie, so forgive me.

type id

Dolly, by Underware.

Dolly Bold, Underware, lowercase k

yup
Too easy I guess.
You're up Eduardo.

Ok, Karl. I'll post a new challenge tomorrow.
BTW, I don't think it was that easy.
It just happens that I have been "studying" Underware typefaces lately.

quiz-first.gif

This is the my challenge.
Too hard? ;-)

Ok, there goes a hint:
There is a design magazine using it.

Fontana ND Light (?)

Yes, sir! :-)
Fontana ND, by Rub

Yeah, Omine!
And my challenge is:
This is my challenge!

Aura, by Rub

Absolutely correct Omine!

This is Aura, another fabulous
design by Ruben Fontana from
Argentina and good companion
from Fontana ND ;D

{Essa foi muito facil para voce
Omine, tu e malandro rapa! ;D}

Ohhh!

Not Seria.

But you're pretty close.

:-)

Scala Sans.

hhp

Hmmm, no.
Keep trying.

Scala (not Sans)

Colin got it!
Sorry, Hrant. :-)

Is there any way I can convince you I would've gotten it anyway? Probably not. Anyway, I'm running out the door, but there's always time for Type ID:

Type Sample

Colin, I'm sure you would have.
I'm not actually good at this, I'm just fast.

--

Wow, that looks like a tough one...

hhp

Nope. General hint: It's not as crazy of a typeface as you might expect.

(And if you beg for mercy, I have some slightly more inclusive versions I can post.)

man, things were a lot sweeter with email notification.
a few emails have spilled through over the past
few days. Any idea what's up with that?

Colin, is this an alternate lowercase s?

Like something out of Poetica...

I'm not real familiar with Dalliance, but I'll
guess Dalliance anyway.

no, not dalliance. Gotta pass on this one
till you post a clue, Colin. :-)

bj

Colin, maybe tell us what the hell letter it is.

hhp

Haha. (I was away for the weekend, sorry.) I'm not going to tell you what letter it is right away, but here's a better view:

deuce

Does anyone know what letter it is now?

soda from emigre?
