Adelle

Hello!

I'm a newbie in a need of some typo advice from experts as I have become overwhelmed by browsing the web ...

I'm a student and currently redesigning a medical magazine run by a non-profit student organization.

I'm looking for a sans serif for headings (it will also appear on posters) and a serif for long texts (2 columns).
Keywords: economical, legible, modern

We are proud to announce the long anticipated release of the Cyrillic extension for our award-winning typeface Adelle. As its Latin sister, Adelle Cyrillic is intended for multi-purpose editorial use, providing robustness and personality. To guarantee consistency throughout the two scripts they share proportions, colour and general features without stepping beyond typographic acceptance. Please contact us if you own Adelle and would like to upgrade to the Cyrillic version.

Due to popular demand and our continuous effort to broaden language support, we have been working on a Cyrillic extension for our award-winning typeface Adelle. As its Latin sister, Adelle Cyrillic is intended for multi-purpose editorial use, providing robustness and personality. To guarantee consistency throughout the two scripts they also share proportions, colour and general features without stepping beyond typographic acceptance. Alexandra Korolkova was a great help in finding the right tone and fine-tune subtleties of shapes. All 14 styles will be available later in the summer.

Pairing Meta Serif

Fine people,

I'm designing an online magazine about the web. We are going to publish articles on usability, design, code, content and web strategy.

The design should be invisible enough to allow for a flexible reading environment where illustrations can really pop.

I've been playing with Meta Serif, and while I think it works amazingly well for body type (15px and 13px), I'm not sure to use it for the headings. I need something that doesn't look so neutral, something that could add a touch of distinction and emphasis, while not being so aggresive and still easy on the eyes. So I've been coining Adelle.

What are your thoughts on this pairing? Do you think it could work? Any feedback will be really appreciated!

We are pleased to announce that the expected sans serif counterpart to the award-winning Adelle is here.

This sans serif proposes a cleaner and more spirited take on the traditional grotesque sans. As typical with TypeTogether fonts, the most demanding editorial design pieces were taken into consideration when engineering Adelle Sans. The combination of its lively character and unobstrusive appearance that is inherent to grotesque sans serifs make it an utterly versatile tool for any imaginable graphic application, whether it is branding, signage or advertising. Without any doubt, the key word behind Adelle Sans’ design is flexibility.

Hello, fellow typophiles! :)
I will save you the long introduction and frivolous background details. Suffice it to say that I setting a brochure in TypeTogether's lovely Adelle and am looking for a good sans-serif companion to use in headings. Do you have any helpful suggestions? I'd prefer a typeface with some kind of lighter weights (like thin, extra-light, display, etc.) but that's not a deal-breaker. Really, I just need something that will act as a good complement to the graceful slab-serifs of Adelle. So far, I have these in consideration:

Our typefaces Adelle and Maiola were selected in the first Ukrainian typeface competition and then exhibited at the Rutenia Calligraphy & Typography Festival in Kyiv. Lectures, master-classes and an open-air workshop "Street Calligraphy" were all part of the two-day event. The exhibition though runs until the 22nd November. On the festival website it reads: "The festival mission is to revive an interest in calligraphy and typography in Ukraine, to provide a place to communicate for calligraphers, typeface designers, typographers, publishers, creative professionals, advertising industry workers, art students, and all the people who care about visual form of word or book as well as about its content."

Hello,

I am doing a magazine re-design and have been looking for a typeface family on a budget.

The typefaces I have looked into are:

- Farnham
- Whitman
- Chaparral
- PF Centro Serif

Can anyone suggest an ALTERNATIVE typeface family (of similar nature to the above listed) that is available in a PRO version (of at least 4-5 fonts including regular, bold, italic and small caps) that sells for under $50?

This also may not be possible... but one must hope.

T H A N K S !

- Jaz

The first exhibition of Tipos Latinos 2010 opened in Santiago, Chile, on April 14th 2010. The program of activities included two days of lectures at the Centro Cultural de España. Scaglione was the keynote speaker on the first day, with a lecture entitled "Shaping Types" that focuses on typography for editorial design. On the second day, Isaías Loaiza presented a lecture about corporate fonts and the role of typography in a corporate id program. The TiposLatinos 2010 exhibition includes two typefaces by TypeTogether: Karmina Sans and Adelle. The photo in this story is courtesy of Consuelo Saavedra. Santa is late but he's finally here! The OpenType Basic version, full commercial licence, of Adelle Bold and Bold Italic can be downloaded free of charge at TypeTogether's website.

The award winning Adelle is a dynamic slab serif designed by Veronika Burian and José Scaglione. While it is conceived specifically for intensive editorial use, its personality and flexibility make it a real multiple-purpose typeface. The intermediate weights deliver a very legible and neutral look when used in text sizes, providing the usual robustness expected in a newspaper font. The unobstrusive appearance, excellent texture and slightly dark color allow it to behave flawlesly in continuous text setting, even in the most demanding editorial applications.
