Universal Media Control Characters - Existing or New Free Font

I'm working on updating my site's code from XHTML 1.1 to XHTML 5, part of that includes the music player. For years I've used an image for the media control characters though now since I'm doing the design update I want to make it easy for people who create themes to change the colors of the controls hence fonts and hence why I eventually wandered to these forums.

How do I access / map manually added ligatures in Word?

Hi guys,

I've created a client font that has some manually added ligatures. It works fine on Apple, because OpenType does the work for me. But can I get these ligatures to work in Microsoft Word? They're not mapped to any key on the keyboard, so how can I access them? I'm making a small manual for the client how to use the font. If this means I have to map these extra ligatures to some keys, this is fine with me.

Can anyone help me out here?

Different languages/glyphs text strings?

Hello there,

Is there any resource out there for getting text strings for different languages, characters for testing purposes? I'd like to copy/paste those strings in the preview panel of FL to test characters with diacritics, special characters, numerals, punctuation marks, and so on, but I can't seem to find all the needed characters for the languages I need.

Clashing Accented Character Pairs Kerning

I was curious if there is a definitive list of accented character pairs that have a tendency to 'clash' and that are most likely to occur in extended languages.

I generally know what they are and have made pairs with exceptions in the past to handle the ones that I believe would be common.

I was thinking that if there was a list I could prevent having to kern pairings that would potentially never occur.

How often do you? Adventures in everyday identification.

Please answer any portion of the questions below if you are so inclined.

What ratio of good type usage vs. poor type usage do you encounter on a daily basis (outside of work)?

Of the typefaces that you see and read everyday (outside of work), what percentage can you identify in a few seconds? For how long have you worked in your field?

What were the first few typefaces you could identify instantly?

Do you have any typography specific pet peeves?

If you are a type designer, what do you think, how do you feel, when you see your work out in the world?

If you could redesign traits of a specific character from a specific typeface which would it be?

Missing characters?

I am a rookie at fontlab - and i have run into a problem.
I made a otf with some kerning pairs. But when I try to use it in Indesign or Illustrator three characters are missing. Its really strange because I can use the font in Pages without problems.
I have no clue how this happened or how to fix it - so advice is much appreciated! (help!)

Thanks in advance :)

FontLab bug

Hi all,
Does anybody already saw this display bug in FontLab ?
All the texts you can type in FontLab like values or sample text in metrics window or somewhere else are not displayed in latin characters but in a kind of hebrew or something like that. A bit annoying to be precise !
I already had this bug in iTunes, but this disapeared at the next update.
I tried to reinstall FontLab totally but without succes.
Thanks by advance for the help.

Fontlab: How to add Latin-3 to a new font?

I ran into a problem today. Currently working on my first font in FontLab, I wondered if there is a method to add for instance all ISO-Latin-3 glyphs (just the empty glyph cells) to a font without generating hundreds of glyphs one by one. I searched the manual but found nothing. FAQ reffers to a page taken down in 2008 for this problem.

Sorry for asking such a basic question. I hope someone can help me with this. :)

Thank you in advance.

PS: I hope I put this into the right section of the forum. If not sorry for that.
