New: HapticScript family by Henning Skibbe

Forums:

The HapticScript family is a connected brush script with a warm, personal and soft character. The typeface family has five styles from Light through Black. It was designed as a companion and extension to the Haptic sans-serif family.

HapticScript has up to 14 variations for each glyph. The almost 2,000 characters per font including 40+ ligatures enable designers to give each word an individual look. Many swash characters for initials and word endings make words looks as if they were hand lettered.

Five Styles: Light, Regular, Semibold, Bold and Black

OpenType features: Ligatures, Contextual Alternates, Stylistic Sets, Old Style figures, Tabular figures

Dynamic sans-serif display. Who knows?

Forums:

Hi everybody,

I am looking for the name of the font below. It’s for a research on dynamic sans-serif fonts, sth like Brezel Grotesk, Founders Grotesk Condensed, etc.

Even if you can’t knock off this one, I am glad for any input for my ongoing research. So if you have other references like the ones already mentioned above, please, don’t hesitate!

Btw: grafik.net is using the font I am looking for in their newsletter!

Many thanks to all of you!

Best, Tobias.

Piedone l'Africano

Hi there, i saw this font today on a 1978 movie poster for the film "Piedone l'africano" (Flatfoot in Africa). I could not find out so far what font it uses. I do not assume that it is hand drawn, althought the two "O" do not look exactely identical. This could as well come from the poor printing techniqes. Can anyone help me identifying it? Thank you very much.

Dark Angel: A New Release from Alphabet Soup Type Founders

Forums:

Alphabet Soup Type Founders and Michael Doret are proud to announce the Release of Dark Angel, a “blackletter/hybrid” font. This font had its genesis in a logo sketch for the Anaheim Angels baseball team—thus its name.
Type purists may be appalled by the lack of adherence to traditional forms, but the font should be seen as only “in the spirit of” blackletter, and attempting something that hasn’t been seen or done before—something that feels traditional, yet at the same time fresh and perhaps unexpected.

Japanese Typefaces / Type Designers

I design a magazine, each issue is about a specific city. Previous issues have included Sarajevo, Detroit, London and Athens. The next city is Kyoto. I am trying to get in touch with any type designers who live and/or work in Japan, preferably Kyoto. Do you know of anyone? Do you know of any great examples of typefaces produced in Japan (that are Latin/Roman etc not Kanji/Hiragana etc.)

I'm also currently investigating whether stacked/vertical type would be a suitable alternative to regular horizontal type. Can anyone recommend any interesting monospace/unicode faces that would make for a pleasing vertical stack?

Any help or opinions on Japanese type please get in touch! thanks. Feel free to email me here: hello@luketonge.com

Unnamed hybrid font - WIP - need feedback

Forums:

This is the first real font I've ever designed and this is my project for my diploma. It's planned as a font for headlines and sub-headlines in a culture magazine (It doesn't necessarily have to work under 14p). I know that it has small serifs, but I decided to post it into the sans-serif forum nonetheless since I don't really know where to post it otherwise. It's not a serif font because there are only serifs at the bottom and not on every glyph.

I can't present much, I've just done the lower cases, but I hope that I'm going to get some useful feedback here in what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong.

MeM — an interactive type system with a wide range of individual personalities

Forums:

Sometimes a surprise, sometimes as expected – MeM is an interactive type system with a wide range of individual personalities.

The eccentric experimental type system created by Elena Schädel and Jakob Runge in 2012. It produces many personalities, each individual and emotive. You will never know which of the alternating letters is going to occur next. Basically, at the heart of it all is MeM: four different weights and letter shapes melded together into one powerful font and shuffled with the sleek usability of OpenType.

Greek (nationality) type designer / typeface wanted!

Forums:

I design a magazine, each issue is about a specific city. The next issue will be about Athens, Greece. I am trying to get in touch with any type designers who live and/or work in Greece, preferably Athens. Do you know of anyone?

The past 2 issues of the magazine have used typefaces created by high profile type designers in appropriate cities and I wish to continue this precedent by representing the city through the typography.

Any help or opinions on Greek type please get in touch! thanks. Feel free to email me here: hello@luketonge.com

Cross-style headline Didone

Forums:

Hello,
This is my debut typeface (which is still untitled).
What initially meant to be modular serif inspired by arab calligraphy, turned out into somewhat modernist base with elements used by older serif typeface styles.

Some glyphs still need work - namely N, Q, X, f, x, 4, 8.
Also I haven't started to work on kerning yet.
And FL technical features are like a plane cockpit to me.

These analogues are the closest of what I managed to find:

Blue Valentine

Hello! I recently watched Blue Valentine and I was touched by it. I've cut a GIF animation of the film title in the end with that beautiful effect of the photo in the back. The typeface reminds me of Knockout by Hoefler & Jones. Is that it? If not, does anyone recognize this font?

Thanks! xxx

Hey Guys! Need a quick font match for this picture

Hey Guys! Need a quick font match for the picture below, it looks like a font I recognise as being fairly familiar, quality of image isn't that great as it's from a low res file, trying to bring the logo into Vector form so would be nice to be able to retype all the words!

Thanks for all your help!
