opinion

Hi,

I would be glad to have your opinion concerning the Neue Frutiger 1450 released by Monotype. I've also seen that they have published an article : "DIN 1450 – the German standard on legibility of texts" which could be seen as a marketing argument to justify, and sell this 1450 serie. (Maybe I'm wrong?).

I've seen some tough feedbacks on Twitter today by some weel known and hi-skilled type designers :

Just read this article http://techcrunch.com/2012/08/23/new-microsoft-corporate-logo/ talks a bit about the new microsoft ID / logo and has a nice video of it in action. I want to hear some feedback from fellow typist. thoughts or criticisms? what do you think about the lig? is it perfect?

Hi,
I'm new to typophile but I was curious whether there were any typeface designers out there who have opinions on the copyright law surrounding typefaces. The following are some questions I thought might propel the discussion:

Firstly, as you see it, do you feel well protected by the copyright law concerning typeface design?

What do you see as the main flaws of the way the law works to protect you as a designer?

Do you feel the main problem to be piracy or plagiarism?

Why do you feel so many people are willing to appropriate typefaces without the artist/designer's permission?

How do you feel would be the best way to resolve this ongoing problem? Does it come from a change in legislation, or an attempt to change people's attitudes...?

Thanks for your time guys and gals.

I will provided the "Question of the Week" and give my answer. I hope in return, you share your answers.

Q: Who would win a fight, Batman or Ironman?

A: My money would be on Ironman. The guy can fly or jet around. Batman? He needs his vehicle and he can only glide, technically can't fly.

What do you think?

Hi everybody,
I'm a student of master in graphic design and I'm building a new typeface. It's a remake of a hand lettering. The original draw was made by a Oporto's seller.

Here is http://typophile.com/files/hamburg.jpg

I'm showing here for ask your contribution and opinion. I have many doubts about how I can adapt the original design for new caracters. Can anyone help me?
Please, say what do you think about. Sugestions and critics are welcome.
Thanks.

Mostly designers deliver a PDF preview of their font(s) when one in made. About how it's made, how it looks, blabla. What is your opinion about what should be in it? And which already excisting promotions do you think are good?

I'm trying to make one for myself (more like a catalog but well designed), containing my font collection.

Dear slab-serif loving peoples of Typophile: What are your favorite slabs? Obscure or traditional; which ones out there do you use, or feel are unique?
