What is the importance/role of photography in Swiss Style?

Hello all,

I'm doing an assignment on the influence of photography in Swiss Style/ITS.
As in how did photography came about in Swiss Style.
I found sources writing it gives an impression of realism and more drama, I found more similar answers but I am looking for a more in-dept answer, I'll really be very grateful if I get your replies.

Thanks in advance for your comments on this topic !

Preorder: Mads knipser, the Book.

For over five years I’ve photographed lettering, signs and tags, and published them on my blog ‘Mads knipser’. Now I’ve designed a book with a lot of the best. Over 100 pages of typographical snapshots, mostly from Copenhagen, but also Amsterdam, Berlin, Cairo, Dubai, Málaga, New York, Paris and Lisbon. Over 160 photographs showing many of the diverse expressions & designs the written word can contain. I wish to publish my book – and to succeed, I need to sell 184 copies.

The book is 30 x 30 cm, 104 pages.
Printed on 150 g Garda Matt.
1,5 kg.

More pictures of it on my my website:
Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Tips and advice

I have recently graduated from university, studying Graphic Design. I have created a blog with some of my designs to exhibit some of my skills.

Here is my blog:

I would love for some feedback on my work. I am open to any form of criticism.

I thank you for taking time to read this

Personal Business Logo Critique, Please

I've narrowed my business logo down to 3 favorites. I'd like some critique. Favorite and why; colors complementary, too dark/too light; kerning too tight/loose; design element too much/dark/light; design element size; so, basically anything I need to do that would make it better, etc. Be brutal, but constructive. Thanks so much :)

Blog page with mixed fonts

Hi, I am trying to improve this page, and I am not sure which fonts to remove or change;
I used Lobster to "soften" the sharpness of the page, but it looks out of place, and I'm not sure if the body font (Hattori Hanzo) is also a good choice here.
I am trying to achieve an "artsy" look, It is suppose to be a part of a photography portfolio, and I don't want the hexagon and square shapes to make the page too "robotic"

Hello all! I know photography is pretty popular with creative types (see what I did there?), so I figured I'd start a topic. I just recently got my first DSLR! I'm pretty excited. This is the first picture I ever took with it, which wasn't very thought out. It was cold, I felt nervous even holding it (my other camera was a dinky point and shoot), and it was also cold. I mainly just wanted to gawk at the quality. My point and shoot had 5 megapixels, so the same as my iPhone. It was an upgrade of momentous proportions. So, is anyone on here into photography?

Photography business logo

I am in the process of designing a logo and identity around a photography business. The client wants to look young and modern, while alluding to early 20th century america. She does wedding photography and portraiture as well as boudoir/ pin-up style photography. She wants to appeal to a younger clientele; mid 20's to 30's primarily without excluding a wider range of potential customers. I would appreciate any feedback and/or direction. Thanks for your time.

Pairing Sans Serif Font with Baskerville

I'm currently designing a logo/brand identity for a friend's photography business. His business is called Knox Photography. Right now I've decided to use Baskerville as the main font, but am trying to find a good font pair to use with it. I really like Gotham, but am not sure if it's completely appropriate? I'm looking leaning more towards a geometrical sans serif font.

I've attached an image of a quick throw together of what I'm thinking of. Right now I'm purely focusing more on finding the right fonts than on the logos design. Currently the image is set with Baskerville and Avenir.

Any suggestions?

Sharing: 2011 Typograhic Wall Calendar

I thought this would be the right place to share my project:

I'm working on a typographic wall calendar, made of two thousand and eleven keyboard keys. Last year I did one made of 2010 keys.(

This year I turned the design into a Kickstarter project. Kickstarter is a public funding platform for design and art projects.
Here is the link to the project-website with a little video:

I also was invited to a lengthy interview about my design process:

On my website i wrote a bit more in depth about the piece:

I WANT YOU: a FREE art magazine

I WANT YOU magazine’s focus is to highlight artists’ work rather than dilute its impact by enforcing editorial perspective. Each page of the print edition consists of a single large format image from a series of each artist’s work and a url that leads you to their feature on I Want You magazine features a broad range of artists from around the world, exclusive art work, and spotlights on forgotten or overlooked artists.

Issue 4 Features:

(x) New Kodak ad font - custom Neutura {R}

Hi everyone, brand new here!
I have been searching everywhere trying to figure out this font and I'm hoping I can get some new insight here. I'm hoping to find the exact font to the new Kodak ads they're running. Neutura is close, but some of the letters are different like the lowercase t.

I appreciate any help you guys can offer!

Typography in "Visual Acoustics, The Modernism of Julius Shulman" Documentary

I recently saw the documentary titled, "Visual Acoustics: The Modernism of Julius Shulman" and what I found really attracting other then Shulman's fantastic photos was the typeface they used. Unfortunately cameras were forbidden in the theater and I was unable to take a picture. So for those who have seen that documentary, please identify the typeface they used.

Thank you!

Wet poster

I have been working on a poster design, the type is purposefully abstract, but I would still like it to be legible to some degree.

Any thoughts or feedback would be appriciated.

Below I have attached the poster and some details.

Photography Logo

Hey guys, so this is my first run at a real logo for my photography. I've been trying for something clean, modern, not overpowering and artistic. I feel like i'm starting in the right direction but am struggling to bring it all into one piece. The hardest part is that I'm not just '"fill in your name here" Photography'. Its called "Socal Lag" but i'm also playing with the idea of incorporating my name into it as well. I feel like its complicated to make it simple because of the name but I feel like it can work!

Thanks in advance for the harsh critiques! lol
